Blower Door Testing

Blower door testing is used to detect air tightness and air leakages in the home.

As of July 1st, 2017, new residential homes in Florida are required to pass a Blower Door (or House Infiltration) test to meet energy code.

The blower door test is conducted by using a powerful fan that mounts to the frame of an exterior door. The fan is then turned on to pull air out of the house, allowing the air pressure inside to lower. This allows the higher outside pressure to then flow in through all openings and unsealed areas to reveal where air leakages may be hiding.
